I hope you are doing well.
I am excited to share with you this encouraging report of how you have helped 100 believers in rural Malawi to get a Bible of their own!
During my recent mission to Malawi in March, by God’s grace and through your help and contributions, I was able to purchase and distribute 100 Bibles.
Thank you very much for your generous contributions that enabled me to purchase these Bibles. Initially, I only had in mind to purchase 2 boxes, but so much support came in for Bibles, I was very happily able to get 4 boxes. Your partnership in the Gospel in this way is hugely appreciated.
During the teaching and training that I conducted in the different rural churches, I always began with the following verses:
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
– 2 Timothy 3:16, 17
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
– Hebrews 4:12
Very Few Have Bibles
Shockingly, only about 5-10% of these rural believers have a Bible of their own; in many homes there isn’t even one Bible. These folk are poor and struggle to afford the vital food for their physical survival. To put it into context, for the price of 1 bag of corn (50kg – feeds a family of 4 for 1 month) you could buy 3 Bibles. So it is really not easy for them to be able to afford to buy a Bible.
No Free Bibles
Even though they are poor and can’t afford to buy these Bibles, I didn’t give them away for free. I did not require them to pay with cash, but rather I required that they memorize and recite to me either 2 Timothy 3:16 or Hebrews 4:12. In this way I was able to ensure that the recipient has a real desire for God’s Word and that they have a greater sense of ownership than they would have if they just received it for free.
These pictures below were taken after these folk received this precious gift of God’s Word in their own language. I’m sure you will notice their joy and gladness…
